Permissionless entry is the mechanism
A network is neutral when nobody has to be admitted to secure it. Gnosis Chain prioritises decentralization and accessibility over centralized speed, which is a deliberate trade: a slower consensus that no single party can be persuaded to reorder.
By maintaining thousands of individual validators, the network remains resistant to capture and censorship. Resistance here is structural. It does not depend on the operators being well behaved, only on there being too many of them to lean on.
Decentralization is not a feature we add; it is the ground upon which we build everything else.
What neutrality costs, and what it buys
Neutrality is not free. A large, independent validator set is harder to coordinate and slower to upgrade than a permissioned one, and the chain carries that cost openly rather than hiding it behind throughput figures.
What it buys is the ability to be built on without asking. Gnosis Chain is being re-built to combine the control and security that enterprise and fintech require with the security and diversity of Ethereum, and it will be the first protocol to benefit from synchronous composability across the Ethereum Economic Zone.
