A payments app for local hubs. Built with locals.

We're building this. We don't have all the answers yet. We're looking for neighbourhood projects, district initiatives, and local currency pilots to help us figure out how it should work.

A daytime street market with bunting strung between trees, food-stall tents, and neighbours mingling. The kind of neighbourhood-scale local economy this page is for.
Why we want to talk to local hubs

A neighbourhood is already an economy.

The hardest part of a community currency, having a real community to use it in, is already there. We just want to make the loop visible.
  1. 01
    Geographic boundary

A neighbourhood, a district, or a town. The community is bounded, the participants are obvious.

  2. 02
    Money already circulating

Locals already spend in local businesses. We make the loop visible and reward staying inside it.

  3. 03
    Cross-business relevance

Bigger than one cafe or one venue. A baker, a gym, a gallery, and a print shop all share the same customers.

  4. 04
    Identity worth defending

People are proud of where they live and want it to thrive. Currency makes the pride financial.

  5. 05
    Local-currency interest

Local money projects already exist. We make them simpler to run and easier for residents to use.

What we want to explore

Local spend as a loop, not a leak.

We don't know exactly what this should look like yet. Some directions we're curious about, and want to figure out with our first local-hub partners:

  • A neighbourhood currency

Earned by spending in the local economy, accepted across local businesses, valid where you actually live.

  • Cross-business loops

Money flows between the baker, the gym, the gallery, the cafe. Not just one way to Visa.

  • Local-only perks

Discounts and offers reserved for the people who hold the local currency.

  • Stronger local retention

Reasons to spend at the corner shop instead of Amazon, made visible and rewarded.

  • Open payment rails

Simpler than custom voucher schemes or paper currencies. No special hardware required.

The opportunity

A neighbourhood with its own economic loop.

Most local currency projects are run by volunteers, with paper notes and patchy infrastructure.

We're interested in whether the same idea, built on modern payment rails, can actually scale, stay alive, and benefit everyone who shows up. Locals, shops, organisers.

The model we're testing

What was the banking margin becomes the community margin.

We're testing models where payment activity can generate upside for the local economy, connecting spending, retention, and shared neighbourhood pride.

We don't know yet exactly what that should look like. That's what we want to figure out with you.

Who we want to build with

Local hubs ready to test the loop in practice.

We're looking for:

  • A clear geographic identity
  • Multiple businesses with overlapping customers
  • A community organiser or coordinator
  • An interest in keeping spend local

Examples:

  • Neighbourhood projects
  • District initiatives
  • Town-scale economic experiments
  • Local currency pilots
  • Business associations and BIDs
