01 Who is Gnosis?
An open-source money infrastructure company. We've been at this since 2017. We build a public blockchain (Gnosis Chain), a self-custodial Visa card (Gnosis Pay), and consumer apps like this one. European-based. Yes, the owl is on purpose.
02 How does Gnosis App make money?
Card networks pay us a small share of merchant fees every time you tap your Visa. That's called interchange. Not your data. Not a monthly fee. Not an FX markup. The cashback comes out of the same pot, which is why it's capped at 5%. Boring, but true.
03 Is it safe?
We don't hold your money. A passkey on your device locks the wallet. Wallet guardian recovery is coming soon. Until then, guard your passkey like you'd guard your phone.
04 Do I need crypto experience?
No. Sign up with a passkey. Top up from any European bank by IBAN. The crypto runs underneath. You never need to know what a seed phrase is.
05 What does self-custodial mean for me?
You own your money the way you own cash. We can't freeze it, lend it out, or move it without you. You're responsible for your keys. Passkeys make that as easy as unlocking your phone.
06 How do I top up?
Send EUR by SEPA transfer to your personal IBAN inside the app. Same-day in most cases. You can also receive crypto from any external wallet. No top-up fees from us.
07 How does the Visa card work?
You get a free virtual Visa the moment you open your account. Add it to Apple Pay or Google Pay. Spend online, in shops, anywhere Visa works. Earn up to 5% cashback. No monthly fee.
08 What is Circles?
A digital currency that mints one token per hour for every verified human. Verification comes from invitations by other people in the network, not from a passport. Spendable inside Circles. Tradeable for EUR once you back it with crypto.
09 Which currencies does it support?
Five: EURe (pegged to EUR), USDC.e (pegged to USD), GBPe (pegged to GBP), CRC (Circles, the social currency), and GNO (the Gnosis network token). All five are spendable and swappable inside the app.
10 Where can I use it?
Across the European Union. The Visa card works anywhere Visa is accepted, online and in person. EUR IBAN deposits accept SEPA transfers from any eurozone bank.
11 What does it cost?
Nothing for the app, the card, or the IBAN. No monthly fees, no FX markup on card spending, no transaction fees on standard use. Gnosis Chain network fees are less than one cent.
